DB Schenker has set up a fully owned subsidiary in Myanmar to work with customers in the telecommunications and consumer goods industries.

The logistics division of German railway company Deutsche Bahn, DB Schenker opened its Myanmar office on June 1 to run contract logistics and warehousing services, complementing its 100 percent-owned businesses in Cambodia and Laos.

The Yangon branch of Schenker Thailand will continue to handle freight, customs clearance and transport operations.

“Myanmar has seen a significant increase in investments and activities in infrastructure, manufacturing and distribution, since the lifting of sanctions in 2012,” said Nay Htoo Aung, general manager of Schenker Myanmar Company.

The company will employ around 80 staff in Yangon, and train them with warehouse and supply chain management skills.
