Key figures in the logistics and supply chain industries convened in Dubai this week for the popular Leaders in Logistics summit.

The event, organised by ITP Publishing, took place on 8th of November and attracted more than 200 attendees.

Some 26 top executives presented case studies and took part in panel discussions on a range of topics from automation and mergers and acquisitions to the new, disruptive technologies likely to have the greatest impact on the Middle East supply chain.

Mohsen Ahmad, vice president – Logistics, Dubai South, presented the opening remarks on the Regional Logistics & Supply Chain Overview. Key executives in the pharmaceutical market also discussed the top challenges and opportunities for 3PLs in this sector.

Sponsors included Mix Telematics, DULSCO and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. In addition to the conference, Twintec, Almajdouie, LOC8, DP World, Cavendish Maxwell and Swisslog exhibiting at the venue.

“Being one of the major players in the market, it was critical for us to be present at this event. Also it is a great platform for networking and to expand our brand profile,” said a spokesperson from Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. “Hellmann is an innovative solutions provider and what excites us most is that the market is now more solution-driven where customers are looking for specialised and customized ways and VAS to enhance their supply chain; as earlier compared to regular freight forwarding solutions. GPS tracking on trucks, mobile applications for ease of use, E-commerce, automatic customs clearance, e-AWB to name a few.”

“Discussing the challenges and requirements of industry with businesses at events like this, play a crucial role in our ability to understand trends in the market. We also benefit from being able to meet senior logistics and supply chain professionals and hopefully learn from other thought leaders in the region,” added Frédéric Zielinski, general manager, Swisslog Middle East.

Stewart Arbuckle, managing director, LOC8 Middle East, added that the conference was an important platform to share ideas. “In tough times and a growingly competitive and demanding logistics market place we are excited at the challenge of helping new and existing clients in making sure they are operating the best practice warehouse in order to allow them to thrive and grow their businesses,” he said.
