The budget airline and regional air cargo operator flydubai is set to take delivery of 100 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft ordered at the 2013 Dubai International Airshow by the end of 2023 and has expanded its contract with AAR to provide comprehensive flight-hour component support.

The long-term contract is AAR’s first agreement to support the new aircraft and will utilize the company's extensive global supply chain network, including its new parts warehouse in Dubai.

"As the first customer of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 in the region, we are looking forward to bringing further fuel and operating efficiency to our young modern fleet," said flydubai's CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith. "AAR is a key partner with an enduring commitment to innovation and reliability, and we look forward to continuing our partnership."

Dubai-based flydubai currently has a network of more than 90 destinations in 44 countries, carrying passengers as well as bellyhold air freight.

The airline provides direct links from Dubai to 63 routes that did not previously have direct air links to the city, or were not served by a UAE national carrier from Dubai.

"AAR is honoured that flydubai will be AAR's launch customer for the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft," said AAR chairman and CEO David P. Storch at a signing ceremony in Dubai. "We have been supporting flydubai's current fleet since September 2016, and it is a privilege to be entrusted with this new opportunity."
