Qatar Airways and Lufthansa Technik have further extended their business relationship this week.
The two companies announced the signing of a cabin modification job for four of Qatar Airways’ Airbus A340-600 aircraft.
In addition, Lufthansa Technik signed a contract to advise Doha International Airport Steering Committee (NDIA SC) on the construction of a maintenance hangar for Qatar Airways in Doha.
At Doha International Airport, which is still under construction, the NDIA SC is building one of the world's largest aircraft hangars, to be used for MRO work on Qatar Airways' fleet of aircraft.
Lufthansa Technik's mandate is to provide support for the construction of the hangar from the design and concept phases to implementation. A team from Lufthansa Technik will remain on-site to look after the construction of the hangar through to its planned opening in 2011.
Lufthansa Technik is five years into a ten year deal to look after the V2500 engines in Qatar Airways’ A320 fleet.
The company was awarded a contract at the beginning of the year to repaint twelve Airbus A330 aircraft from the airline’s long-range fleet
