Five caged lions and tigers abandoned by a circus in a car park in the Bahraini capital were left behind because no airline would accept them as cargo, their owners have claimed.

The beasts were stuck in Manama for up to five days, with residents complaining of fears for their safety and being kept awake at night by constant growling and roaring, the Gulf Daily News reported on Thursday.

The animals, which belong to Frsan International Management, were in the kingdom for a series of circus shows for Bahrain National Day celebrations, which ended on January 15.

Fadhel Albado, Frsan managing director, told the paper they were forced to leave the wild animals behind after no airline would accept them.

"We spent BD190,000 to bring all the animals and special artists to entertain Bahrain audiences. After the show concluded, we enquired with many airlines about animal cargo, but they refused and said they don't have such services available,” he told the paper.

"We were waiting for a special cargo plane to transport these animals and it cost us BD16,000."

Sometimes schedule carriers just do not have the right experienced personal to handle such animals. We are doing air transports with all kinds of animals even rhinoes, elephants, etc.

I agree with the post above. They also managed to fly them out of Bahrain to Qatar for another show.

Well, I don't see how they can not take them out or don't have the means to carry out their transportation?? They were able to handle them when they arrived but cant handle them out?? Hmmm.
