Royal Jordanian will begin flights to Madinah Munawwarh in Saudi Arabia.
The airline will inaugurate the route with two flights a week.
RJ president and CEO Hussein Dabbas said the service would be an advantage to passengers wishing to visit the country for Hajj and Umrah.
“Pilgrims normally wish to pass by Madinah Munawwarh and visit Prophet Mohammed tomb and religious places before heading to perform Hajj and Umrah rites.”
He added that a feasibility study had shown many of the airline’s passengers visiting Saudi Arabia wished to do so via Amman in Jordan.
Studies are being carried out to open new routes such as Kuala Lampur, Johannesberg, Tehran, Izmir, Luxor, Aswan and others, the airline confirmed.
It failed to disclose exactly when flights to Madinah Munawwarh would begin.
