Officials from United Airlines are cooperating with health officials after 20 passengers were injured during a flight between Washington DC and Tokyo.
The injuries were caused after the 13-hour flight, which was operated with a Boeing 747, experienced turbulence halfway through its journey, over Alaska.
While smaller injuries such as bruising were reported by the majority of passengers, at least one person was thought to have fractured their leg, according to a report on Sky News.
The news following a similar incident in 1997, when a passenger died from her injuries after a United Airlines flight from Narita to Honolulu in Hawaii encountered turbulence.
