Passengers on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight received a shock this week, after a tiny tortoise escaped from a passenger’s hand baggage and roamed the aircraft.

The incident occurred on board a Cairo-bound flight, according to a report by Arab News, and the creature was apparently hidden by an Egyptian woman but escaped while she was asleep. Its discovery caused other passengers to start screaming, the website added.

The control tower at Cairo airport was alerted before the aircraft landed and personnel were on hand to retrieve the tortoise.
