DP World, UAE Region has achieved a new vessel productivity benchmark when its cranes hit a record of 259 berth moves per hour while servicing the container liner MSC Madeleine at its Jebel Ali Port in Dubai recently.
Operational efficiencies ensured that 11,722 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent container units), were handled within 28 working hours, beating previous productivity benchmarks.
“The new quay crane record set at Jebel Ali Port is a result of all-round team work and we are delighted that our efforts are paying off. We congratulate the operations team,” said Mohammed Al Muallem, senior vice president and managing director, DP World, UAE Region.
Earlier this year Jebel Ali became one of the world’s first major container terminals to integrate, through the ROSTIMA LMS system, an all-inclusive manpower management system with the high-end technology that runs its operations.
