Abu Dhabi International Airport was the venue of a special race this month, when an Etihad Airways Airbus A320 was pitted against a V8 Supercar. The race was filmed by Australian breakfast show Sunrise during a recent visit to the UAE capital, with three-time V8 Supercar champion Craig Lowndes describing the occasion as “truly amazing”. “There was a lot of work that went into arranging the race. It took some time to organise our security clearances on the day and ensure everything was in place while they shut-down the runway for several hours,” he explained. “It was an awesome experience to see the massive Airbus to my right as I took off down the runway. It’s something I’ll never forget.”
