The sixth annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards (SCATA) 2012 took place in the United Arab Emirates last night, with more than 200 figureheads from the Middle East logistics industry in attendance.

Hosted at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel in Dubai, the prestigious ceremony was organised by the ITP Publishing Group and featured 17 categories in total, which covered the entire spectrum of supply chain and transportation activities.

The big winners of the night were Emirates SkyCargo, who picked up three awards, including an induction into the SCATA hall of fame for senior vice president cargo, Ram Menen.

“It is a very humbling moment. You do things and you get recognised and I’m very grateful to everybody who has recognised my work,” said Menen.

"But, I don’t do this for recognition; it’s a matter of trying to build an industry or build a legacy that can be handed over to the next generation, one they can live with and can develop and take to the next level. To me that is the most important thing in my life. For me, in this journey to get recognition like this – this is probably the most humbling moment in my life.”

The full winners list at this year’s ceremony included DHL, Almajdouie, Danube Building Materials and Jebel Ali Free Zone in the logistics categories. While Emirates SkyCargo, Maximus Air, and Dubai International Airport won in the air cargo categories, with Sharaf Shipping Agency, Maersk Line and Jebel Ali Port victorious in the shipping categories.

For the judge’s awards; Famco, Ehrhardt + Partner Solutions (EPS), Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Care By Air and Emirates SkyCargo all received recognition.
