HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Airports, unveiled new high-tech 'information zones' at Dubai International Airport last week. The dedicated zones, which have been designed by local boutique Almax Design, are set to replace traditional information desks at the airport. Amongst the highlights are 40-inch LCD touch-screens, developed by ATM provider NCR, which display sleek maps of the airport and offer directions to boarding gates, restaurants and other facilities. Passengers can also scan their boarding passes for personalised directions to their gate, while printed map cards will also be available at the kiosks. Trained staff will still be present to deal with queries, meaning passengers can choose a medium that suits them best, with the new facilities located across all three terminals.
